Alan Cain -
District Governor Nominee - Rotary International (2009-2010)
Alan
grew up on an apple ranch in Sonoma County, California, where he
enjoyed small rural schools, the outdoors and riding horses.
While attending Santa Rosa Community College, Alan met his life
partner, Jeanne, and they were married in 1968. Raising a family
led to looking for new lands and adventure, and resulted in
their re-location to the high desert community of Alturas in
1978. Alan co-founded Pioneer Auto Body, Inc with his father in
1982 and has served as president and operations manager to the
present.
Alan joined the Rotary Club of Alturas in 1995 and served as
club president in 2002-2003, and then served as Assistant
Governor for Area 12 from 2006 to 2009. Alan is a charter member
of the Paul Harris Society, a multiple Paul Harris Fellow,
member of the Bequest Society, and District Foundation Alumni
Chair 2009-2010. Alan also was the club coordinator and led two
Rotary teams on international projects in Belize in 2005 and
2006, providing classroom equipment, furniture and refurbishing
for six rooms at Mt Carmel school in the western border
community of Benque Viejo. Alan and Jeanne have had the pleasure
of hosting two RYE students over the years. Daughter Kelly and
son Tom are both Paul Harris Fellows.
Alan's wife Jeanne, also a Rotarian, served as Club President in
2007-2008, assistant Governor for 2009-2010, is a Paul Harris
Fellow, and member of the Bequest Society.
In addition to Rotary, Alan is involved both locally and at
state levels in a number of organizations. He currently holds
seats on both the USFS and BLM Resource Advisory Committees, is
a member of the T.E.A.C.H., Inc Board of Directors, a member of
the Modoc Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors,
served seven years on the Modoc District Fair Board of
Directors, two years on the Modoc Medical Center Board of
Trustees, and served two years as State Education Co-Director
for the Backcountry Horsemen of California. Alan and Jeanne have
also been involved in live community theater over the years.
Hobbies include golf, backcountry horse packing, and travel. |
